Barbara's Bio
Hello, my name is Barbara LaBeau and I am an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Grand Valley State University. This is my fourth year at GVSU, teaching the required technology courses for undergraduates. My ultimate goal in all my classes is to have my students understand that technology is an integral part of everyone living in the 21st century.
Before coming to GVSU I was an Interactive Learning Consultant at Macomb Intermediate School District, and previous to that I taught 17 years in various grade levels and positions in the Michigan public educational system. I received my Ph.D. from Oakland University in Educational Leadership, and my Educational Specialist is from Wayne State University in Instruction Technology Integration.
Along with my colleague, Russ Bareveld I am the co-producer of the “WIT Podcast” (We Integrate Technology) which can be found on itunesU.

Hello, my name is Russ Barneveld and I am field coordinator for the "Graduate Teaching Certificate" program in the College of Education at Grand Valley State University. This is my eleventh year at GVSU. In past years I was an affiliate professor with the COE and taught mainly ED-205 "Computers in Education." I am a firm believer in the use of technology in the classroom.
Before coming to GVSU I taught for the Grand Rapids Public Schools for 32 years. I have taught at the middle school, high school, alternative education, and adult education levels. I also served at the Technology Coordinator for the Adult Education Program in Grand Rapids.
I am a graduate of Western Michigan University where I earned my Bachelors and Masters Degrees. You can view a digital story of “My Views on Education” at the following website address.
